    Stress/Depression Test

Stress/Depression Questionnaire

Test yourself to see how many symptoms you have.
  1. Do you have low energy?
  2. Do you feel the need to get more sleep than usual?
  3. Do you have difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep?
  4. Do you find it difficult to get up in the morning?
  5. Do you find it difficult finding a reason to wake up in the morning?
  6. Do you feel you have lost interest in things that used to give you pleasure?
  7. Do you have crying spells?
  8. Do you feel sad and "blue" more than you feel "normal" and happy?
  9. Have you been feeling agitated?
  10. Have others accused you of being argumentative and/or overly defensive?
  11. Have you found that you have less patience with things and people?
  12. Has your appetite changed - increased or decreased?
  13. Has you sexual appetite decreased?
  14. Are you isolating yourself?
  15. Do you feel helpless and hopeless sometimes?
  16. Do you think of suicide?
  17. Are you having difficulty with concentration and memory?
  18. Are you experiencing physical symptoms such as:
    • muscle stiffness?
    • headaches?
    • constipation or diarrhea?
    • chest pains?
    • stomach problems?
    • sore jaw from teeth grinding?
    • other unexplained medical problems?
  19. Are you medicating yourself to function, ie, Tylenol PM to sleep, more alcohol consumption than usual, any drug abuse to numb your feelings?
  20. Have you had a lot of crisis or difficult situations happen to you in the past year, ie, deaths, job problems, family problems, marital problems, substance abuse problems for yourself or someone close, financial crisis, illness, move to a new place, etc?

If you answered yes to many of these items, you may be feeling overwhelmed and could use some assistance. Often times, supportive counseling that allows ventilation, validation, problem solving and coping skills is good in conjunction with the treatment that your physician recommends for the medical problems associated with your stress.
